TAG Night Out ...adult group art at the Park Tavern
TAG is NOT just for kids! We stretched a ginormous 6 x 8 foot canvas at the Park Tavern for Jersey City's quarterly art event, JC Fridays. Tons of people stopped by and added their marks. I found it interesting how groups of people spontaneously began working as teams. This was a really fun time and the artwork turned out beautifully. I guess tipsy people make good art!

Ice breaking with TAG the Art Game at New Jersey City University Business School's first Entrepreneur Club. The event was held at their beautiful new campus on the Hudson overlooking the skyline of NYC. The students enjoyed pizza and made friends as they collaborated making art with TAG. Good thing there were two canvases because a couple of young men got so into it they couldn't tear themselves away and almost finished one by themselves! It was a fun night.

WATERFRONT COMMUNITY CHURCH AWARDS FIRST ARTS GRANT TO Mollie Thonneson

Waterfront Community Church in Jersey City has awarded Mollie Thonneson, creator of TAG, their first ever arts grant. This small but dynamic Lutheran congregation specializes in using all forms of art as important community builders. On Easter Sunday, pastor Don Egon brought in Thonneson to play TAG with his congregational members as they celebrated and reflected on the theme of New Life. The beautiful results have been the inspiration for creating the grant which will be awarded to a different artist every year.
Thonneson will be using the grant to continue her series of TAG events which will include fellowship and art making. Love of self and others, mindfulness and presence, forgiveness and grace are all themes which will be explored. An exhibit and reception at the end of the series will showcase the finished TAG inspired artworks.

TAG artwork used as fundraiser incentives.

Sustainable Jersey City is using TAG generated artwork as the highest donation incentives for their IOBY.org crowd sourcing campaign. The three artworks, one framed paper piece and two canvases, were all created during SJC's Green Drinks+Art events. As many as nine people playing over twenty turns on each piece were needed to churn out these masterpieces.

more art made with TAG @ Drawings Room's "What's HAPPENING" event

As if seeing framed TAG art hanging in a gallery space wasn't cool enough, Mollie was at the Drawing Rooms actually playing the game with gallery goers on Sept. 20th during "What's Happening at the Drawing Rooms". Other "happenings" that evening comprised of live music, performance and participatory sidewalk haiku. Everyone was an artist that evening as at least eight people collaborated on the lively piece seen here.
TAG Goes High Culture and Hits the Gallery Circuit

TAG will be a featured art project at the Drawing Rooms in Jersey City, NJ. Sept.5th through Sept.28th 2013. Sustainable Jersey City +Art is sponsoring the event in order to highlight six artists who are helping to build awareness for their Rain Garden Project. TAG creator Mollie Thonneson has developed a customized version of the game for SJC+Art to use during their public events. The new perimeters are meant to conclude with an abstract artwork that suggests urban, rain, and garden. Hanging in the gallery will be five artworks that have been created by various groups of individuals who have played the game. During the show's reception, Sept.8th 3:30-6pm, Thonneson will be presenting the new game and signing up volunteers to test the urban rain garden version.
TAG Entertains at Art Eat-Up

TAG was a big hit with diners during the 2013 Art Eat-Up held at the Hudson County Culinary Arts Institute . Nineteen people took turns adding to a communal canvas using house paint, oil pastels and various papers in between munching on treats provided by the school. Everyone had a great time playing and the resulting piece of art is fantastic! The event was co-sponsored by Sustainable Jersey City + Art and Pro Arts Jersey City and featured 10 artists who presented their individual and group projects with the hopes of winning the prize money that was decided by popular vote. Although TAG wasn't the winner of any money, a winning relationship was forged between SJC+Art and creator Mollie Thonneson. Both entity's look forward to future collaborations.
